Airplanes, Beaches, and Kimchi

Airplanes, Beaches, and Kimchi

Hi everyone! I am back from my vacation and it was simply awesome! Frankly, I didn’t want it to end but then nobody ever really wants vacations to come to a close.

To make the story short, I have been too focused on work and other things that I completely forgot that I needed to take care of myself as well. Before I knew it, I was already down with stress-induced headaches, RTI, and was slowly relapsing.

I have been thinking of taking a break but haven’t made the necessary steps for it to materialize. Luckily, I was blessed with a caring better half who always looks after me and he made our vacation happen.

We went to the Philippines and Korea where we visited memorable places from my childhood – the city where I was born, where I grew up, where I went to school, etc. It was a fun journey and it made me feel warm and fuzzy. We also got to spend a little time with distant relatives who welcomed us with a feast. That’s one other thing I will miss, the authentic taste of Filipino and Korean food. (4 year old Kimchi anyone?)

I wasn’t expecting to shed tears on our last day in Ulsan. As they say, “there is no place like home.” The sights, the smell, the weather, the culture… Who knows? If there is a good opportunity to relocate, we might just have to consider it. 😛

14 hours passed… touchdown New York.

“Absence sure does make the heart grow fonder” – my boss told me that when I came back to work and it made my heart flutter knowing that all that hard work didn’t go unappreciated. I am not sure how long this will last but I surely do have a more determined and optimistic approach in life. Maybe it’s because I got the chance to meditate and recollect. I promised myself that from now on I will not deprive myself of a well-deserved r&r. In fact, I already made plans for July 4th weekend!

I am glad to be back!
